The purpose of the Colorado Agricultural Aviation Association is to serve its membership in legislative concerns, education of pertinent issues, and to promote technical programs to enhance the betterment of Agricultural Aviation and it related activities.

The CoAAA has been accomplishing the above mission statement by:

  • Passing state level MET Tower marking legislation in 2014, and contributing to the NAAA effort that passed federal tower marking in the FAA Reauthorization Act passed in July of 2016.
  • Hosting Operation S.A.F.E. Fly-in’s for spray pattern testing in 2013, 2015, with the next planned for September 28-29, 2017.  In 2016 the KAAA and CoAAA co-hosted Operation S.A.F.E. in Goodland KS.
  • Hosting the Annual Convention for PAASS (Professional Aerial Applicators Support System presented by NAAAREF) and Continuing education for licensed pesticide applicators from Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.
  • Creating drone flight safety recommendations as a founding stakeholder of www.thinkbeforeyoulaunch.organd presenting this information statewide with Colorado Corn throughout 2015 and 2016.  This includes the addition of safety language regarding low flying manned aircraft into the FAA’s Know Before You Flycampaign in late 2015. Think Before You Launch is designed to address the safety issues of all pilots actively flying in the 15+ low altitude flight operations conducted across the United States.

Membership dues are the primary way that the CoAAA raises funds to continue safety advocacy work and legislative representation for all members of the aerial application community and related low altitude flight industries.  The CoAAA is a pilot centric organization with our primary goals set to protect and promote pilot safety and a secondary goal to protect and promote other vital contributors such as vendors and agronomists to the aerial application industry.  Voting Members play a vital role in shaping the future course of the CoAAA.  We encourage each business to fill their two voting memberships first and encourage all members of the industry to participate in the CoAAA.
